Fall Family Photos/Family Photos Color Scheme

Family pictures are one of those things that can stress a mama out. Picking out outfits for everyone is probably the most stressful thing. Timing out when hair and makeup is done, when the baby is going to eat, when the kids are going to eat, trying to make sure the baby doesn’t draw on their face with a permanent marker or a kid get a black eye… it’s a huge production! And in all honesty, an hour before our pictures, Emmy walked up our stairs with purple marker smeared across her face. Insert all the panic here. Luckily, it was washable. Crisis averted!

But it’s ALWAYS worth it. As we were walking back to our car, after our pictures were taken, I was so happy I had scheduled them to be done. Luckily for me, I have a sister who is a photographer, an amazing one at that, so it makes the process even easier.

Fall is my favorite time of the year to have our pictures taken. The colors and beautiful weather make it ideal. I wanted to share my color scheme and some tips for taking family pictures!

Tips and Tricks For Family Photos

I like starting with one piece of clothing and then pulling colors from it, similar to how I decorate a room, lol. I bought this dress from ROOLEE and I loved everything about it! All the fall feels! I used this dress as the “base” of our outfits.

There was a little bit of pink in my dress so I bought Jayde this dress from Target. It’s pink but not too pink; I still consider it a neutral. The pattern on it was simple and small enough that it didn’t compete with mine which makes it work. Don’t be afraid to mix patterns but just keep it to a few outfits.

These girls’ paperbag waist pants are so adorable and were the perfect color. I paired a simple white ribbed shirt with it. Again, purchased from Target. I swear Target is not sponsoring this post! 🙂 (But I kind of wish they were!) 😉

This burgundy dress was another Target find. You can see with the younger 3 girls, I kept their outfits still very cute, but no pattern. Think of texture too when choosing outfits. Texture is always a good thing!

The dress comes with the white shirt underneath and I decided to put Emmy in the same dress. Another tip, bring some snacks! Emmy wasn’t in the greatest mood for our pictures and some chocolate helped a few different times.

I will treasure these photos forever!

Go HERE to check out my sister’s web-site. She is insanely talented! One thing that she does that I absolutely love, is play music! She asked us what kind of music we wanted to listen to, put it on for us, and we had some nice background music as we were taking our pictures. She’s seriously the best, goes above and beyond in more ways than one!
