Friday Chit Chat- Estes Park, 3 Dogs & 1 Cat, & New Fav Makeup

Hello and happy Friday!!!!! I’m excited for the cooler weekend ahead! Might even start decorating our fall porch- to see last year’s fall porch- go here. Last fall was when we adopted Fluffy, our cat. Since then we’ve added Marley, our new cocker spaniel- you can go here to see all about him. Today I thought I would share about our family trip to Estes Park, CO, our experience with 4 animals thus far and some of my favorite makeup lately! Random stuff!

Estes Park, CO

Rocky Mountain Park

For years my family and I have been making our way west to Estes Park, CO. Last week we had our family vacation there and it was SO much fun! There are a whopping 24 of us- lets just say things can definitely get chaotic (are chaotic) most of the time. But with chaos also brings fun. There is always someone to hang out with and talk to. There is lots of noise, lots of opinions, lots of kids, lots of food, sometimes disagreements, and lots of stuff- but also lots of love. (Cheesy? Yes. But true.) We always say our family should be on a reality tv show- it would actually really make for entertaining tv, lol.

Some of our favorite things to do in Estes Park is:

  • Golfing – The golf course in Estes is beautiful- well kept, great weather and always plenty of wildlife to see. The guys usually golf while us girls shop.
  • Shopping – Downtown Estes is full of cute little shops. Our favorite one is right on a corner and is called Trendz. They have such great stuff!
  • Rafting – We went rafting down the Colorado – ages 7 and up could go. We did a beginner course and it was perfect- enough rapids for fun for everyone- but not anything too scary. A picnic lunch is provided (was so good). This was the girls’ favorite part of the trip.
  • Jeep Riding – This was so much fun! We packed into a back of a jeep and got drove up and down the mountain. So relaxing and beautiful.
  • Breakfast at Egg and I – We always end our trip with breakfast at the Egg & I – always have had a good experience and good food there!
  • Dave’s BBQ – We tried Dave’s BBQ for the first time and were impressed- really good food and affordable pricing!

The first night us girls and kids went down to grab something to eat and sat by the river. In the middle of eating the kids start yelling that Oakland (my sister’s almost 2 year old) was throwing people’s shoes in the river. Sure enough, I looked behind me and 2 pairs of brand new Nike shoes and 1 pair of sandals were floating down the river. I literally ran down the river- and basically dove in. I was able to catch one but not the others. I fell and was waist deep in water. (My sister Kourtney thought I was drowning and was ready to jump in and save me-being totally real.) My sister Krista ran down to the end of the river (we are talking a long ways) to wait for the others, literally sprinting past tons of people. A few got caught in rocks so she literally went into waist deep water to retrieve the others. This was the best, funniest part of the trip- pretty sure we were being videotaped by people who thought we were literally crazy. Something I will never forget!!! (BRAVO- you can reach out to us whenever you’re ready to go.)

Our view off our deck

My favorite part of the trip was this right here. To the back of our cabin was this view. Sitting down by the water was so relaxing, so beautiful and so peaceful. I could’ve spent the majority of the trip here and been just as happy! If you are looking for a great vacay- I definitely, highly suggest Estes Park!!

3 Dogs & 1 Cat- Are We Crazy?

Marley & Emmy

So – are we crazy for getting another dog?! Maybe yes but no regrets by me! I honestly feel like adding Marley to our family has not been as hard as I thought it would be. We are still definitely training- he does good some days and bad others but that’s to be expected. From the get go our other dogs have seemed to have no issues with Marley- Shadow took a few days to come around and Jax truly seems indifferent. Fluffy, our cat is outside most of the time but comes inside from time to time. I’ve noticed he stays outside more since we’ve had Marley- but I see them playing a lot together. Our family adores him and I can say I don’t think 3 dogs is harder than 2.

Fav Makeup

Thought I would share some of my favorite makeup items right now that I find myself reaching for on a regular basis.

Rare Beauty Liquid Luminizer in Transcend – this liquid luminizer is SO pretty. I add mine right on top of my setting power and blend it out with my beauty sponge or finger – gives the prettiest glow to my skin.

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Setting Powder in Lavender – Ok- purple setting powder – you might be thinking what in the heck but honestly- this stuff is the most beautiful, brightening setting powder I have ever laid my eyes on. And I’ve tried A LOT. I use this to set my concealer and LOVE it!

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Cheek to Chick in shade Intense – I love that blush is making a comeback. This blush is so beautiful- I would say if you are fair skinned – it might be a little much for you – but for me I love the formula and color of this blush so much. It’s going to be perfect for fall makeup!

Maybelline Colorsensational Shaping Lip Liner in Totally Toffee – Months ago, Tati ( a makeup Youtuber) raved about this lip liner and I have been hooked ever since. Goes on super smooth and is just a great neutral color without being too light.

Thanks for stopping by and reading all of my randomness today! Have a great weekend!!!!

xoxo Kayla
