IKEA Billy Bookcase in Master Bedroom Corner – Books Galore
Happy Friday friends!! Our master bedroom has had a few upgrades over the years – hardwood floors to replace our dated and worn-out carpet, french doors to replace our window, new nightstands, and some new paint done by yours truly. (Actually I’m thinking of re-painting it but don’t tell Matt that….) But really, out of all the spots in our home, this is one of the most neglected. I’ve envisioned built in shelves for our bedroom and finally, a few months ago, I took a day and put together these billy bookcase shelves for the corner of our bedroom. SO much storage and finally a place for all my books!

What I ordered from Ikea

Here is my exact order from IKEA:
4 billy bookcases in the color “birch”
8 height extension units in the color “birch”
And if you haven’t heard me say it before, hear me now, these shelves are SO easy to put together.
Process

Here are the bookcases without the 2 extension units on top. I wanted the bookcases to look somewhat “built in” as well as all the storage I could get.

I had the MOST FUN styling the bookcases. Before, my books were scattered throughout our home; I am so excited they now have a permanent spot.

This cozy chair is from World Market and is the perfect spot to drink some coffee and read. As you can tell, blue is definitely the theme in here. I’ve actually been doing a poor job of reading- am trying to change that currently.

Everything in these shelves are items I already had on hand! Books, obviously. Cute puzzle boxes double as decor. Cozy, folded blankets, various plants and baskets – I think it came together quite well!

There is still much to do in this room- one of those being a fireplace makeover that is next to these. I also have the thoughts of making the bookcases looking even more like a built in by doing a few finishing touches. Will share when/if I ever get around to it. One little area at a time! Have a wonderful weekend!
