Painted Fireplace Mantle
Hello! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! We had a great weekend celebrating our Aub’s 9th bday! Some family came down (which we always love) and we had such a fun time. Friday was spent celebrating her with a pool party with friends, dinner and opening gifts. Saturday morning we picked up her favorite donuts. We had a girls’ day as well and spent the day shopping (got some Christmas goodies from one of my fav shops downtown), ate lunch at our favorite spot downtown, picked up Starbucks, got more Christmas goodies at Hobby Lobby and made a quick stop in to Sephora. A pretty good Saturday, if you ask me! Today, I wanted to share my painted fireplace mantle!
BEFORE
Over time we have slowly been getting rid of all of the dark wood in our home; pretty just not my style. This fireplace mantle is one of the last few things that has needed a coat of paint or replaced. I always feel guilty for painting over stained wood, I’m not sure why, so I’ve left this untouched. Someday we will get a new mantle- something bigger and lighter- but for now I wanted to paint it so it would go better with the rest of our home.
AFTER
The difference is subtle but I feel like it goes so much better with the rest of our home.
After cleaning off the mantle I gave it a coat of primer, let that dry and then gave it 3 coats of a paint I already had on hand.
Pretty soon I will be switching up the decor on our fireplace mantle to Christmas; I haven’t had the urge yet but I’m sure it’s coming soon.
