Black Mulch Landscaping & New Solar Lights

Kayla

It is only the 7th but this month has already felt super busy! May is always one of our busiest months, end of school stuff, 2 of our daughter’s birthdays, sports, graduations, and landscaping projects. In-between games last weekend we decided to try out black mulch instead of the typical lighter brown we usually lay down.

I really like the contrast the black mulch creates! Matt wasn’t too excited about the idea of black mulch but he actually likes it a lot more than our older kind once he saw it out. As you can see, our aspen trees have bloomed and are so pretty! To see when we planted those and more information about them you can go here.

Something else I wanted to add to this area was some landscaping lights. I saw these brass solar lights at Target and snagged them for around $20. They are now $55?! Don’t know why the price went up so much but I am happy I got them at the lower price! You can buy them here.

Something that I didn’t realize is that each light comes with it’s own large solar panel, separate from the actual caged light. There is a long wire attached to each one so I was able to hide the solar panels pretty easy and bury the cord underneath the mulch. These lights put off quite a bit of light, more than any other solar lights I’ve tried in the past so I am very happy about that!

This weekend we are planning on working on the side of our house landscaping, there is still so much to do! You can go to this post to see our drawn out plans. Thanks for stopping by!
