Clay Jewelry Charms

Kayla

One hundred degrees – too hot for anything, even the pool in my opinion. We’ve had multiple 100 degree days thus far this month and I’ve been trying to think of some fun things we can do indoors- besides watching tv. Pinterest is my go-to when searching crafts and diys; I found these adorable clay jewelry charms and was inspired.

Supplies for Clay Jewelry Charms

I gave each girl their own little station with a sheet of parchment paper and some clay. When making charms, you don’t need much, so a little goes a long way. And then we got to designing. Emersyn made Olaf.

Aubree made a bunch of charms plus an adorable jewelry dish.

You can use a toothpick to make a small hole or insert small eyelet screws- we did a combo of both.

I baked the clay on a piece of parchment paper at 275 degrees for 15-30 minutes. The smaller and thinner your pieces, the quicker they bake. Let cool for 5 minutes and then they are ready to paint!

Once the paint dried, we added a coating of the gloss. This made it come alive and truly look like a jewelry charm. Let dry for 12-24 hours.

Finished Product

No joke- this kept the older 3 girls, as well as myself, entertained for hours. Emersyn enjoyed doing it but obviously isn’t as detailed as the other girls! I actually stayed up till 11 pm, wanting to finish them. I also love that this brings us all together. As the girls get older, their rooms become more and more a place where they want to always be. I find by simply starting a craft like this, or puzzle, game, etc., it brings the girls out and makes them want to hang out with us more.

I grabbed some elastic string and beads and made a cute bracelet with a couple of my charms. You can buy chain necklaces, anklets, bracelets, etc. as well.

Overall, this was an affordable, fun diy. If your kids are into crafting, this is a great one for a one hundred degree day!

Thanks for stopping by!
