Night Stands Makeover

Kayla

Hello! I have been working away on Aubree’s room makeover- to see the mood board I created for her room you can go to HERE. This makeover is probably one of my favorites yet! Happy, colorful and whimsical were the words that came to mind when designing Aubree’s room. Not quite done but slowly getting there. Today you all get a little sneak peek because I wanted to show you her night stands that I recently did a makeover on! They turned out SO cute!!

Before

We’ve had these night stands for a few years and actually received them for free. I had ordered night stands for our primary bedroom and Matt surprised me and put them together for me. A wonderful surprise except they had sent us the wrong night stands, lol. The company let us keep them so we’ve held on to them since. Matt’s work was not wasted after all!

Night Stands Makeover

I bought this wall paper for a little nook in Aubree’s room and decided to put this on the drawers of her night stands. So easy and adds such a cute design element!

Adorable, right?! Initially I purchased a few cans of chalk paint spray paint but was not very impressed with the coverage. I ended up buying a chalk paint from Hobby Lobby and loved it way more than the spray paint. After giving the stands a few coats, I distressed them lightly and rubbed a clear wax over the top to help protect it.

Chalk paint is probably my paint of choice when it comes to painting furniture. What I love about it: no priming needed, dries quickly, velvety finish and distresses easily. A clear wax is my favorite way to protect a piece of furniture- mostly because it’s so quick and easy. Not as durable as a poly but I don’t mind a little distressing here and there, so typically always reach for it.

These knobs were a Christmas present from my sister and they are PERFECT on these night stands!

A diffuser is a must, I love the desert mist diffuser (recently has gone on sale!) in a bedroom- especially because it has the candle flicker setting. And can we get a slow clap for the adorable wall sconce that is dimmable-one of my favorite finds.

I cannot WAIT to show you all the rest of her room- like I said- one of my favorite rooms so far that I’ve ever done!
