Our Favorite Christmas Movies

Kayla

This time of year I watch more movies in 1 month than I probably do in the rest of the months combined! I do love movies but here’s the kicker for me, when I watch a movie I want to watch every. single. part. of the movie. I literally don’t want to miss a sentence. (Hard with 4 little girls!) I am fully invested. If Matt is fast forwarding and he presses play a little bit into the show, I will make him rewind it the 5 seconds back. Matt doesn’t understand my madness, “Why did I need to rewind it so you could just see them walk into the house? You’re not missing anything!” Oh but I am Matt… I am.

I thought it’d be fun to come up with a list of our favorite Christmas movies! It will be nice to have this list to come back to in years ahead as well!

Favorite Christmas Movies

  1. The Family Man – This is one of my all time favorite movies; definitely in my top 5. (I always bawl my eyes out. Pretty typical of me though when watching anything remotely sad or sappy.) I feel like I never hear people talk about this movie but it’s a great one to watch for Christmas!

2. The Family Stone – Another great movie! This is a must watch over Christmas.

3. Home Alone – We watch this every Christmas along with probably everyone else reading this list! 🙂 Notice all the wallpaper in their house?! And that dark green color in the hallway (that is all the rage right now). Crazy how trends always come back.

4. Elf – Another movie we watch every Christmas. Makes us all laugh!

5. Jingle Jangle – This movie was just released this year on Netflix and it is so good! My sister recommended this to us and the girls and Matt and I both really liked it. It’s partly a musical and it’s a definite must see!

6. Prancer – I remember watching this when I was a little girl and who doesn’t love reindeer?

7. Christmas Chronicles I and II – I’ve loved Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn since the movie, “Overboard”. (That’s a movie I can watch multiple times a year and not get tired of.) And these 2 don’t disappoint in The Christmas Chronicles I and II!

8. The Santa Clause I and II – Tim Allen is just the best and our family always makes sure to watch this movie before Christmas. “In your dreams Sleigh Boy”, is a line I like to use from the movie on Matt. 🙂

9. The Polar Express – This is probably one of Matt’s favorite Christmas movies. We always watch it the week leading up to Christmas.

10. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation – In our old neighborhood Matt was nicknamed “Clark” after an incident putting up the Christmas lights. I wont go into details…. but this is one that always makes us laugh!

11. Noelle – A really cute movie that my girls all loved; you can find it on Netflix.

12. Christmas with the Kranks – Cheesy? Yes. But for some reason I just really like it; Tim Allen always helps!

13. Four Christmases – This movie always makes me laugh so much! Vince Vaughn is pretty great!

14. How the Grinch Stole Christmas – Brielle used to be obsessed with this movie when she was younger. Another one we always make sure to watch!

15. Jingle All the Way – One of my favorite Christmas movies growing up. “It’s Turbo Time!”

16. Miracle on 34th Street – Another good one I remember watching when I was younger.

17. A Christmas Story – Don’t even really need to give a description of this one. A classic.

18. Disney’s A Christmas Carol – A great message!

19. It’s a Wonderful Life – You guys, I have to be honest. I have never seen this movie. (Insert hands over face here.) BUT, I always hear people talking about it so wanted to put it on the list for you. I WILL watch this in the next week or two and update this post! **UPDATE: Watched this and it’s SO good, such a good message!

20. The Holiday – A charming movie about 2 girls who switch lives. Just one of those feel good movies! I really like any movie by Nancy Meyers!

21. Northpole – Our girls have always loved this movie!

22. Little Women – My girls haven’t seen this movie yet but I have; it’s about time I introduce them to it.

Favorite Hallmark Christmas Movies

I know some people have strong opinions about Hallmark movies, either you love them or hate them! During Christmas, give me all the cheesy vibes. These are some of my favorite ones, maybe a little less cheesy than others out there….. probably not though.. lol.

23. A Very Merry Mix-up – I’ve watched this one multiple times and really like it! A cute storyline!

24. A Christmas Detour – Candace Cameron Bure stars in this movie and it’s a good one!

25. Matchmaker Santa – From the title, I bet you can guess what happens.

26. A Wish for Christmas – This was a cute one!

27. Family For Christmas – Think “Family Man”, but sub out the guy for the girl. Doesn’t come close to the Family Man but it’s still worth watching!

Make some popcorn, maybe some Holiday Punch and snuggle up for a movie.

We LOVE this popcorn machine!

Merry Christmas!
