Emmy’s Room Makeover – Wallpaper, Paint & Closet Organization
I am so excited to share Emmy’s room makeover with you all today! I’ve been planning this makeover since the beginning of the year. We knew when we decided to add on to our home that we would have to take Emmy’s window out and put a new one in on a different wall. Because of that I waited until that was done to start working on her room. Paint, stick and peel wallpaper and a new closet are the main changes in her room. I really tried to push myself when it came to designing her room – her closet was something I knew could be better and I’m so glad I diy’ed it. I truly LOVE how her room turned out-so girly and cozy!! Grab a warm drink and a cozy spot and come see all that we did!
Room Before
Emmy’s window was right here, they had to remove it for the new addition.
You can see in this photo where her window was in comparison to our new addition.
Her room looked like this for months – torn apart and messy! I was so excited to get my hands on this room-the dis-organization drove me crazy!
Room After
I took her wallpaper into our local paint store and ended up deciding on Driftscape Tan for the walls and Gobi Desert for the trim and doors; brand is Benjamin Moore. The colors match perfectly with her wallpaper!
Stick and Peel Wallpaper
When designing her room, I knew I wanted to incorporate wallpaper somewhere. I ended up choosing this stick and peel wallpaper from Amazon. It is the prettiest color of blush pink and the animal pattern on it is adorable. This was fairly easy to install and I used 4 rolls for this wall with some leftover.
New Window & Curtains
We ended up going with a larger window for Emmy’s room with a transom above it to match the new addition windows. It lets in a lot of natural light which you know I love!
I purchased this curtain rod from Amazon to match the other brass accents in her room. After searching online, I came across these curtains from Urban Outfitters and instantly added them to cart! They are perfect in here!
Closet Makeover
This closet needed help. It definitely worked but I knew we could make better use of the space. Obviously, very messy too!
After clearing everything out, I put together this shelf from Walmart and it fit perfectly in here! I will say, I’m not a huge fan of putting together furniture but this one was one of the easier pieces I’ve put together. The instructions are very clear and it took me around an hour, maybe even a little less. I am planning on using this same shelf unit in my own closet here soon!
I painted the walls, trim and door and added some leftover wallpaper to this little space. After trying a few different tension rods in this space, none of them were strong enough to hold up the clothes, until I found these ones. They are a really pretty brass gold color and are very sturdy! I added two between the wall and the shelf.
Shelfs in a closet make a HUGE difference!! SO much more space! I folded her t-shirts and sweaters on one shelf; the bottom one holds her shoes. Little mouse baskets hold hair accessories, soccer shin guards, etc.
I added some hooks I already had on hand to the side of the closet- give me all the storage!!
Gallery Wall
We’ve had this old dresser for over 10 years now, I remember it was one of the first pieces I painted and made over. It’s very well made and perfect for Emmy’s clothes and toys. Everything on the walls and on the dresser, are items I already had on hand.
The wicker mirror is an old find from World Market. The blue framed pictures were from my grandma’s house- I will forever keep these!
This kleenex box cover and strawberry basket were recent thrift store finds.
Bed & Nightstand Styling
If you come to my house, you will find this bed in 3 out of 4 of my daughter’s rooms. This is a GREAT bed. Affordable, well made, easy to put together and timeless. Buy it here. You can see the full and queen size, both in different colors, in Brielle and Aubree’s rooms.
The pillows are all from random places, I’ve bought them all over the last 6 months.
Jayde made this end table in shop class last year in 8th grade. When I picked it up from school for her, I offered her $50 for it and she took me up on the offer! I love the scalloped detail and it’s a very nice piece. (Good job, Jayde!!)
I’ve had this plug in sconce for a long time, it’s from Etsy. Every room in our home is not complete without a diffuser, this owl acts as a diffuser, night light and sound machine. Emmy loves filling it up every night before bed! You can get it here – under $40!
Emmy is always performing – singing and dancing – always. This big mirror is one of her favorite things!
I love her room but most importantly, Emmy loves it too!
