A Dream I Do Not Want To Forget

Kayla

Last night I had a dream- a dream that was so vivid, so real. I was driving down a paved road that leads to my childhood home- dark surrounding- my headlights creating sight in the black night. When all of a sudden, hundreds of people filled the road all walking towards me. At first I was so confused- there were 2 versions of some people- one walking in front of the other- twins but different; while other people only had 1 version of themselves. The people continued to walk past my car to a set of stairs that rose into the star ridden sky and they floated up.

And I realized- Jesus had returned to earth. Joy overfilled me.

Clarity set in. The people with 2 versions of themselves had followed Him- the 1st version was before Him- the 2nd was the new person they became after.

The people with only 1 version of themselves- had not followed Him.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away, behold, the new has come.

Dreams are crazy- sometimes they make absolutely no sense and sometimes they can hold meaning, insight and truth. I am reminded of how much God has changed me- for the better. My first version- full of self doubt, searched for approval from everyone and was not very good at loving myself. My 2nd version- is still a work in progress- but she’s more confident, self aware, no longer needs approval from everyone who looks her way, filled with way more joy and is still working on loving herself. I can’t imagine going back to the girl I used to be- at the time I didn’t realize there was a different way to live.

This is a dream that I want to remember forever. A reminder that God is coming back someday- whether it’s tomorrow, 2 weeks from now or 200 years- and that following Him means a new beginning.
