Aubree’s Bedroom Makeover- Girl’s Colorful Bedroom

Kayla

Today I am so excited to show you all Aubree’s Bedroom Makeover!!!!!!!! Aubree has always shared a room with a sister and this last year has voiced that she would REALLY love her own room. We decided to turn our guest room in our basement into her bedroom. I had literally done nothing to the space in the last 7 years we’ve lived here. The room housed a lot of items that we no longer used as well as a closet full of a whole lot of stuff. That was the first step- ridding the room of all the things. I created a mood board for her bedroom which you can see here. A few weeks ago I shared her nightstands makeover with you all- go here for that post. And now after many months of work, painting, organizing and diy’s- I can show you all her girl’s colorful bedroom makeover!!

Before

So beautiful, right?!?!

After

Bed

One of my favorite things in her room is her bed! She had seen a picture in a magazine of a blue bed pretty much exactly like this- although a whole lot more expensive. I found this one on Wayfair and LOVE it! Such good quality, affordable, easy to put together, very sturdy and is so darn cute. ( I will have links for you at the end of this post!)

I knew I wanted to incorporate a lot of different colors and patterns in Aubree’s room. One day while browsing Home Goods I found these sheets on sale and this comforter is from The Company Store. Very good quality. Pillows are from random stores! The star pillow was a dollar spot Target find ($5) and I will link the others for you below.

Gallery Wall Above Bed

All of the items above her bed were collected over many months.

My sister is an amazing artists and I grabbed these 2 prints- the bunny and the green flower ones- from her Etsy Shop- Stella June. Two of my favorite pieces of art in the room! The frame around the bunny print was my Grandma’s (always think of her when I see it). I love incorporating new things with old.

Antique Cabinet

AFTER:

Lucky me, found this cabinet on an online for sale site. I knew it would be perfect in here! Chalk paint was my paint of choice to make over this cabinet. Typically I always grab for chalk paint because no priming is involved and it dries quickly. Also I like the aged look it can give a piece! For the inside of the cabinet, I painted it the same color as the bedroom to help tie it all together, added new hardware and used rub n buff on the hardware that I kept. For the drawers, I put on the same stick and peel wallpaper that I put on the nightstands.

I installed 2 of these puck lights in the cabinet to add some light- you can easily shut them on and off just by touching them and they are battery operated. Love the extra cozy vibes these give off!

This cabinet houses all of Aubree’s “things”- toys, fidgets, books, etc. I love having a big piece of furniture in here like this one to keep things nicely organized!

Wallpapered Window Nook

Although I wish the windows were bigger down here to let in a little more light, I still love the way this window nook turned out!

Adding some wallpaper to this nook has really made it a feature in her room. The curtain rod and curtains are Amazon finds- I used the same curtains (different color) in Jayde’s room makeover.

I found the bird planter on clearance at a small shop- I am OBSESSED with her! While antiquing, I have found a few other bird planters and plan to use them in Brielle’s room makeover.

I added a small hook to hold this macrame hanger which houses a plant- of course. Teaching Aubree how to take care of plants- her sister Jayde is really not interested in the whole plant thing. 🙂 Time will tell if Aubree is or not.

Desk Nook

My initial plan was to add some can lights to this area to brighten it up but the electrician would’ve had to make cuts in our dry wall and it’d be a more extensive and expensive project than I anticipated. So, instead I opted to add in this hanging pendant light in the corner- it gives off a good amount of light!

Most of these pillow covers are from Hobby Lobby- she can cozy up here and read a book, draw, etc. whenever she wants.

This board was gifted to Aubree from her grandma for her new room- it is so adorable! Aubree has already adorned it with her items.

I’ll probably add more artwork and decor over in this space but for now I love it as is.

Dresser

This dresser is a good one! I love the color and it is well made; will link it for you at the end of the post.

Nightstand Decor

This room screams Aubree to me- happy, colorful, sweet, positive and bright!

No kid’s room is completed until a handmade “knock please” is hung up with tape.

Us girls all worked on this puzzle and I thought it would look great in Aubree’s room so I glued it and hung it up. More info is on an Instagram reel I made if you are interested!

Love Aubs and love this room!
