Christmas Fireplace Mantle With Foraged Log, Twinkle Lights & Snowy Garland

The other morning, as I drank my cup of hot coffee, I thought to myself that I would maybe decorate our entryway for Christmas. Many hours later this turned into the whole house getting a sprinkling (a heavy one at that) of Christmas decor. Bring on the cooler weather, the holiday tunes, hot cocoa in mugs and all the wonderful, cozy things that Christmas brings along with it.

A few years ago I saw Susan from Kindred Vintage use a piece of driftwood to decorate her fireplace mantle and I instantly fell in love with the look. I knew this year I wanted to do something similar. For Aubree’s birthday we went to a park here in town and my brother-in-law found me the PERFECT branch for our fireplace. This Christmas mantle is my FAVORITE yet! I’m so excited to share it with you all! Go here for last year’s look. Grab a warm drink, cozy up with a fuzzy blanket and come take a look at our fireplace decked out for the holiday season.

Foraged Log

First, lets talk about my most favorite thing about our Christmas mantle this year- this awesome log! I never thought I’d be so excited for a tree branch. After hauling this home I cut it down to size using a table saw and sanded it down. Using my drill, I created a small pilot hole (so the log wouldn’t split) and attached this right into the mantle with some long screws.

I’m not a huge fan of our mantle and so I didn’t mind putting a few small holes in it. Some putty and a little bit of paint will cover it right up!

I just love the rustic, whimsical vibes this gives off. Throughout the years my style has changed – I don’t even know what to call my style – but I do know I just do what I love!

Christmas Stockings

“The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.”

Some of these stockings I’ve had from previous years and I’ve recently purchased a few of them. Unfortunately, I can’t find any links for these but you can find some similar ones here, here, and here.

For me, I love a good textured stocking. Hobby Lobby always has great affordable ones as well in stores. I am planning on making some name tags for the stockings- will share that diy with you all soon!

Christmas Artwork

I’ve said this many times before – one of my favorite ways to find new artwork is to search on Etsy for downloadable art prints. Usually you can find ones for a very reasonable price. Wait 30 seconds for the artwork to upload, download it to your computer and print them wherever you’d like! I typically send mine to Walgreens because of the convenience and I can pick them up usually in a few hours.

You can find these art prints here. There are so many talented people on Etsy – love supporting a small shop whenever I can!

Christmas Decorations

There are a few items I always reach for when it comes to decorating for Christmas. Number one item is twinkle lights. These ones are SO good for a few reasons in my opinion – they plug in, come in a long strand, and are micro lights which makes them super easy to twist around garland. You can buy them here. I just love the look of them!

Battery operated candles are always a must as well. These ones come with a remote and a timer- I have tons of them scattered throughout our home. No open flame to worry about!

Bottle brush trees are another favorite item of mine for Christmas. I have collected these throughout the last few years and each year add a few more.

Christmas Mantle

Thank you all so much for stopping by! Can’t wait to show you all the rest of our home decked out for Christmas!!

xoxo Kayla
