Fall is in the air and I’ve been loving the cooler mornings and evenings. Our family has actually been able to enjoy our front porch (it’s west facing so gets real hot in the summers). What is amazing to me, is how much joy cooler weather brings me. Lots and lots of joy! Matt is the same way. Today I wanted to share my porch with you all. It’s all decked out for fall with lots of pumpkins, mums, well… how about I just show you. 🙂
How to Preserve Your Pumpkins
I bought most of my pumpkins from a local farmer’s market. Emersyn, my little helper, and I washed them with dish soap and water, dried them off and then sprayed them with this Polycrylic Protective Finish. This is supposed to preserve them during the whole fall season! I’ve seen many other bloggers share this tip so wanted to try it this year. I always get my pumpkins as early as I can and I always end up having a few of them rot before October 31st so hopefully this prevents that from happening. (Update: NONE of my pumpkins ended up rotting which is a first! This really does work!)
I have had this jute woven doormat now since spring and am still loving it. You can purchase it here. I layered this black and white rug underneath it to help tie in the black from the porch steps and it’s under $10!
This wire basket is one of my favorite antique finds. Perfect to hold some pumpkins and gourds. And the little stool was a Habitat for Humanity find for a couple bucks.
This wreath was a new purchase and I seriously love it; another Hobby Lobby find. I put this little pumpkin in my macrame holder. It might be my favorite thing on the porch; I don’t know why but I Just think it’s so cute!
I lined our stone with these orange pumpkins. I think they add a lot of charm.
Matt just planted this maple tree in our front yard and the leaves are starting to change colors. I WANT a yard full of leaves which is one of the reasons why we added it. There’s not a lot of trees around our area since it is newer homes. We’ve added 9 trees to the front and back of our home in the last year which makes me super happy. I am determined to have fallen, crisp leaves adorning our yard.

Fall is the best time to be out on the porch, with a hot cider in hand.
