Kitchen Design and Inspiration Board
AHH I’m so excited to be typing this post! When Matt and I looked at this house, one of the first things I told him was that I would want to makeover the kitchen someday if we were to buy it. Six years later, that dream is finally becoming a reality! I have definitely done a lot of diys to make the kitchen more of my style, but my diys have only gone so far. Today, I thought it’d be fun to share our kitchen progress throughout the years, as well as my kitchen design and inspiration board with you all.
Before
This is what our kitchen looked like when we moved in. Nothing wrong with it, just not my style at all. Even though a lot of things in this home were not our style, I knew eventually we’d be able to change things up. I started out by painting the kitchen island white and adding some beadboard to it and I loved how that turned out. You can see a small glimpse in the picture below.
The next diy project I did in this space was a faux brick wall using mortar and painter’s tape.
We paid someone to install this faux hood over our microwave.
After debating for 4 years whether to paint the kitchen cabinets white or not, I decided to finally just do it. It’s really hard painting newer, nicer cabinets. This brightened up our kitchen SO much and while I do think the dark cabinets were really pretty, this is more me.
I have been obsessing about this kitchen makeover for months and months and can’t believe that next week they are going to be installing the countertops! Some items are back-ordered and such so I know the finished product wont be done for another few months but the fact that work is going to start next week is so exciting to me. I put together a kitchen design and inspiration board for you all to see and linked everything down below. (I bought the faucet in aged brass but it’s out of stock right now so linked a different color up for you.)

While most of the work in this space will be done by our contractor, I am planning on doing some things myself, like painting our island and faux hood a new color. Our pantry will be re-configured so I’m still trying to figure that all out. And I might be continuing the faux brick to more areas of the kitchen (still deciding). In all honesty, I hope I remember how to do it! I have seen a lot of people do a limewash technique to their brick and I’m thinking about doing that as well. The wall color is still up in the air; I’ll have a better idea as progress is made.
Can’t wait to take you all along on the process!
