New Skincare Line I’m loving & Hydrafacial Results
Who knew I’d be almost 35 years old and still struggle with acne?! Any one else well past their 20’s still struggle with this annoyance? I always thought, and was always told, that I would grow out of my acne. But that really hasn’t been the case for me. Is it better than in my teens and early 20’s? Yes. But it’s still there, especially around the time I receive the monthly gift us women get. Skincare is super important to me and I will do practically anything to just have nice skin. I received my first hydrafacial about 2 weeks ago and was given a couple different samples of skin products that I have been LOVING and wanted to share with you all!
Hydrafacial Results
I’ve heard people talk about hydrafacials and how much they loved them so I was so excited a couple weeks ago to receive my first one! I went to Body and Soul, one of my favorite day and med spas in our town. The girl who did my hydrafacial sat down with me prior and went over my areas of concern and had a lot of great suggestions to help my acne prone skin which I was so thankful for! (Will share these tips later on in this post!) After going over my concerns she got to work on my skin.
“A HydraFacial is a patented skin treatment available in medical spas and dermatology offices. … Known for its three-step process, the HydraFacial works to deep-clean, exfoliate, and hydrate your skin. This professional procedure may help treat a variety of skin conditions, including acne, dryness, and wrinkles.” The treatment was not painful at all, I felt no discomfort at any point. She used a little suction tube thing (very technical term) that she went over my skin with to help clean out my pores and also to infuse serums into my skin. She explained what she was doing as she went along which I really appreciated as well. After she was finished she showed me the tank that sucks all of the junk out of your skin and it was, as you can imagine, pretty gross. I LOVE that though, I like when you can actually see the results!
Here is my skin a few days after (no filter), it felt clean, my pores looked smaller, acne was all cleared up and it felt very smooth. Super happy with the results and it will definitely be something I go back and do again in the future.
New Skincare Products I’m Loving
I don’t know about you all but in the spring and summer is when my acne really tends to flare up. I’ve always struggled figuring out how to keep it at bay during the warmer months. The esthetician gave me some great tips that I never thought about.
- Use a gel cleanser instead of a cream to help with acne in the warmer months. This is something I have never thought of, didn’t really think it would make a big difference but was one of her suggestions. She gave me a sample of the Farmhouse Fresh NewGroove Hemp Wash Gel Cleanser and after using it for about a week I knew it was something I wanted to purchase. It smells HEAVENLY, is 97% natural, and vegan free. My skin tends to be more oily this time of the year and this really helps tame the oil without being drying and irritating. This really makes my skin feel clean and does a great job of removing my makeup.
- She also suggested using this gel moisturizer, the Watercress Hydration Cascade Gelee’ Moisturizer. I get pretty nervous to try new skincare products because of how sensitive and acne prone my skin is but again, fell in love with this product after using it a short time. Doesn’t break me out, feels refreshing, not heavy, but also does a great job of moisturizing my skin. I have just been using this at night and when I wake up I swear my skin looks better than it did when I went to bed and I think this is one of the reasons why.
- Use LESS products, NOT MORE. Less is more, is sometimes hard for me to put into action in my life. I think sometimes we get swamped by so many different products and things that we think we need to use all these different things to give us great skin. BUT, what I’m learning is that simple is better when it comes to skincare. She suggested using my acne cream only in the mornings and foregoing it at nights. In my mind I think, I need to fight the acne day and night but she said sometimes too much of a product can be not good for our skin. And honestly, the last 2 weeks I’ve been doing this, I haven’t struggled with as much breakouts as usual.
- Exfoliate a few times a week to help get rid of dead skin cells. This is something I already do but it was a good reminder. She gave me a sample of the Sand Your Ground Clarifying Mud Exfoliation Mask and SURPRISE… again, really liked it! I haven’t purchased this yet but plan on buying it after I use up some of my other exfoliation products.
The Farmhouse Fresh Instant Glow Dry Oil is a product I’ve had now for a few months; I sampled it at their spa and instantly loved it. It is a dry oil that adds a nice touch of color and a little sparkle to the skin. It smells really good and I like that it’s an oil. Some oil products like this can feel sticky and tacky and don’t really dry down but this melts into the skin really nicely and doesn’t leave a residue. I’ll be using this a ton this summer!
Farmhouse Fresh is a new product line to me but one I am absolutely loving. This is in no way sponsored, all of the opinions are my own and I purchased everything with my own moolah. My skin has truly felt better, more calm, less irritated and less acne breakouts since using this. Any of these products would make a great Mother’s Day Gift!
