How We Saved Hundreds of Dollars on Pavers
Landscaping can get real pricey, real quick, but it’s one of those things that adds character, charm and sometimes usability to a yard. We have been working on the side of our house now for the last two months and something we knew we wanted was pavers. After a trip to Home Depot and finding out the grey pavers we wanted were out of stock and could take months to come in, my eyes wandered to a much more affordable red paver. I told Matt my idea and after I sold him on it, we purchased the brick and got to work!
Here is the space before, this is basically what it has looked like the last 6 years we’ve lived here. HERE you can find more before views of this space and a sketch of our plans.
And here is our pavers all laid out! In this post you can see the steps Matt took to lay the pavers.
How We Saved Hundreds of Dollars on Pavers
Like I said earlier, we wanted grey pavers, so this is where this product comes in to save the day.
A few years ago we laid pavers, similar to these ones in part of our front area. Soon after, I realized we should’ve went with grey pavers and after doing some research came across this product and decided to try staining them. It worked great and saved us the hassle of re-doing the pavers.
I used a paintbrush to apply the stain to each paver. The whole area, from start to finish took me under 2 hours. You could definitely try using a roller but I don’t know how well it would work to get in all the crevices.
The stain is very easy to apply, it’s a thinner formula so is very easy to work with.
After 2 hours we had grey pavers! We literally saved hundreds of dollars by doing it this way.
If you have pavers and aren’t a fan of the color, isn’t it nice to know you don’t necessarily have to replace them all? I love diy projects like this that save time and money. We didn’t have to wait months for grey pavers to come in and by doing it this way didn’t have to spend as much money.
We are almost done with this space! Later this week I’ll be working on the new gate design which I’m super excited about!
Still have planter boxes we will be doing in-between the trees, a new light fixture and then the gate and we are done! Part of me wants to do some type of cool treatment to the sidewalk too, maybe a stenciled sidewalk like I did to this one? We will see though. 🙂 As always, thanks for stopping by!
