Decorating Kitchen Countertops with Everyday Items

Kayla

Ever since our kitchen makeover, I have been enjoying finding everyday items here and there to decorate our kitchen countertops with! I like to use items I use on a daily basis and thought I would dedicate a post to show you all how I decorate our kitchen countertops. Our kitchen does not have any open shelves so I treat my countertops as our “shelves”. (Also, will have any item I can link for you at the end of this post!)

Cover Outlets with Cutting Boards & Art

Something I’ve been doing for quite some time now is covering our outlets with cutting boards and art. (I don’t really like those showing!) I use the cutting boards on a daily basis and it’s nice to have them out and ready to go at all times.

On Instagram I shared this frame I found at Hobby Lobby for $1.99. I wasn’t a fan of the picture in it and ended up finding a print in an old book I had and transported it to the frame. Free art! Below is another example of how I cover an outlet. I fell in love with this art piece the moment I saw it.

Diffuser on Kitchen Countertop

Something I will NEVER go without in my kitchen is a diffuser! We all know sometimes the kitchen can smell great but also not so great-especially after certain meals. Scent to me is so important- I love filling my kitchen with yummy smells. This aria diffuser puts out SUCH a good mist- I look forward to picking out my scents every morning. I keep this cute bowl next to it that is filled with essential oils. To buy this diffuser go here and receive a free gift from me!

Use Trays & Baskets to Gather Items

Using a tray or basket to gather items together keeps your counters from looking cluttered. Even though I have a lot of items in this tray; it doesn’t look like a jumbled mess because it’s all housed together.

I adore this wire basket- I thought of hanging it on the wall but decided to just set it next to it. I’m still on the search for some type of artwork that I can hang here with command hooks and not damage the wall that way.

I keep a small tray next to our farmhouse kitchen sink that holds soap, our Thieves cleaner and a scrubby brush.

Use Everyday Items as Kitchen Countertop Decor

I love to use items that I use everyday as my decor in my kitchen! To me, this gives off a lived in, “homey” feel.

Cutting boards like I stated earlier, this adorable toaster that we love and this cute bowl I found at Home Goods all are items we use everyday. We keep bananas in this bowl.

Cook books, pot holders, measuring cups, a cute coffee cup, etc. are all placed in this wire basket.

Plants

Plants bring LIFE to a space! Over the last few years I’ve become a little obsessed with plants- I continue to add to my collection, often. I love having a pop of green in the kitchen. I’m sure as spring nears I will be adding a few more plants to my kitchen. 🙂
