Working Moms vs. Stay at Home Moms

Kayla

Working moms.

Stay at home moms.

Who has it the worst?

Online, you can find a myriad of thoughts, opinions and facts on the subject. Sometimes I feel this unspoken battle going on around me between the two. Working moms looking down in disdain at stay at home moms and wondering what in the world they have to complain about. Stay at home moms muttering that working moms just have no idea and they’d give anything to leave the house and talk to adults.

My question- WHY? Why do women make this into a competition about who has it the hardest? Is there a trophy at the end of it all? A cash prize I don’t know about? (How much money are we talking?)

I don’t think this is a competition that a true victorious winner will ever be announced. No one will be crowned, “Miss I Have It The Worst”. The thing is- there are pros and cons to both. All of our circumstances are different. Some of us may have sacrificed many things to be where we are at today. Some days I may have it better and some days you. It’s life. And what’s that saying- “Don’t judge someone til’ you’ve walked a mile in their shoes.”

So maybe lets end the competition. Me and you. Both sides surrender. When you see a working mom doing a B.A. job juggling everything- tell her! When you see a stay at home mom juggling 3 kids in the grocery store in her sweatpants, who looks like she might be ready to break down in tears, tell her she’s doing an amazing job.

We all have our own journeys, our own obstacles and our own doubts. Life is hard enough without feeling like we have to defend what we do. From 1 mom to another- props to you- whether you work in or out of the home.

You wont find any competition over here.

xoxo Kayla
