Long Narrow Entryway Idea – Two Console Tables Equals One
Hello!!!! And happy May! Holy moly – it’s been quite a while since I’ve done a blog post. We have been B.U.S.Y. around here, but I have to say – I feel like I am finally in a state of acceptance when it comes to our busy lifestyle. Most of it is our own doing, some of it our circumstances and things out of our control, but regardless it is our life at the time. May is always crazy- I think for most of us teachers/parents! And I know we are in such sweet (hard sometimes) years, with all of our girls home under one roof. So, just trying to find the joy in our day to day busy lives! With that being said, I DO want to get better about finding the time to blog on a regular basis.
Ok, so if you’ve followed me for a while you know that I’ve changed up our entryway a million ba’ jillion times. A few years ago it looked like this, the next year I changed up the entryway dresser with wallpaper and we added a light- go here for that post. And then things started to feel real cramped. And no one likes to feel cramped. So, out with the antique dresser and bench, and after a few tries, I am finally happy with the space. No cramped feelings. Woohoo.
Two Console Tables Equals One in Long Narrow Entryway
After searching and searching and searching some more- I could find no entryway table that would fit in this space that was in our price range; we needed something long and narrow. I found this table on Amazon and LOVED it but it wasn’t long enough. And then- lightbulb moment- I decided to buy 2 and just put them together to give the illusion of 1 very long table.
Each table was right around $100 (such a good price). Overall, the quality is great, the tables are very sturdy and I love the natural wood look of them. I highly recommend!!!
Large Oversized Mirror
Because we have such high ceilings and this is such a long area, I really wanted something oversized and large to fit the space above the tables. I ended up finding this mirror HERE.
Mirrors reflect light which really does help this space seem a little more spacious as well. Plus, it’s great for when you are headed out the door; a mirror is a no-brainer in an entryway.
Entryway Lamp
This lamp reminds me of an expensive Pottery Barn one except it is much cheaper. I found the base at a thrift store for $5 and then added this beautiful pleated shade from Amazon, you can find it here.
Rug Runner in Entryway
I’ve had a plethora of rugs in our entryway – short ones, long ones, fuzzy ones, chunky ones, soft ones, wool ones, and sometimes none at all. I’m a lot of times playing musical rugs in our home, more so in the entryway because I could just never make up my mind on what I loved. But that all ends now because, drumroll….. I have found, THE ONE. (Why is this paragraph reminding me of Goldilocks and the Three Bears right now?? lol)
With an open concept house, your rugs all have to kind of coincide with one another. Well they don’t necessarily have to, but it looks much better in my opinion if they do. So, I wanted something that would go with the rest of the rugs in our home, especially in our kitchen because when you walk in our home it is literally straight in line with the entryway.
I settled on this one and it’s affordable, beautiful, soft, washable and goes great with the other rugs in our home. You can buy this rug here.
Entryway Table Accessories
One of my favorite artists is Lindsay Letters; I fell in love with her stuff years ago and last year gifted myself this beautiful print on canvas.
Over on Instagram stories, I was talking about how I don’t really see too many people with family pictures in their homes anymore. Or on Instagram it doesn’t seem that way anyways. I think family pictures gives a cozy, “homey” vibe and I love this picture of the girls in the entryway. This frame is from Flyaway Market, mention me for 15% off your order! They have such cute stuff!! And I always love supporting small shops!
Something I always notice right away when I walk into someone’s home is the smell. Having my Aria diffuser in the entryway, pumping out good scents, is one of my favorite ways to greet people into our home. And I love coming home from running errands to a good smelling house!
Bench in Entryway
On the other side of the entryway I have this bench that I’ve used at the end of our bed in the bedroom and whose home is now here. It offers extra seating, whether it’s to put shoes on real quick or whatnot.
You totally get a great look at our new windows that just got put in!! (Planning on doing a blog post soon with all the details!)
