Laundry Room- Green Checkered Counter Pattern

Hellooo!! And happy Tuesday!! It is finally starting to feel a little more like spring which is giving me motivation to freshen up some spaces in our home. I’ve been working on spring cleaning over the last few weeks- took about 8 large trash bags to be donated (feels SO good to get rid of stuff) as well as a few bags to the trash bin. For my printable spring cleaning lists you can go HERE. They help me stay on track! One area I recently gave a mini makeover to is our laundry room. Our countertop is a cheap piece of wood that Matt installed for me years ago. It works good and I love that I can easily change it up with paint. I decided to do a green checkered pattern on the counter last week and it really brightened the space up!

Green Checkered Counter

before

After sanding and wiping down the counter down, I gave it a few coats of white chalk paint that I had on hand. Using a tile I found in our garage, I traced it to make the squares.

Once my squares were all penciled out, I wrote down which squares to paint green and hand painted them. After the paint was all dry, I gave it a few coats of finishing wax to help protect it.

after

I think it is SO cute and charming. My edges aren’t perfectly painted straight but I like that look- looks a little more rustic to me.

This faux brick is ALL over our home- I’ve done it in the kitchen, here in the laundry room and recently our master bedroom. Such an affordable way to add some texture to a space! And actually, pretty easy to do as well!

Last year I painted the laundry room all dark which I still really like. This green checkered pattern really stands out and helps bring a little color and life into the room.

One way I tied in the green color to the rest of the room is simply by adding other green accents, like this book on the top shelf and the antique ceramic planter dish.

I’ve always said paint is the easiest and usually the most affordable way to change up a space! Love how this turned out!!
