Master Bathroom Makeover Reveal
Hello! This week, thus far, has been BEAUTIFUL!!! Cool, crisp mornings are my jam and it has been a breath of fresh air. Literally. Today, I am SO pumped to show you all our master bathroom makeover! This has been months of work- LOTS of painting, wallpapering and last weekend I made over our glass shower door. I worked with the existing backsplash and flooring- my dream floor is a penny style- maybe someday! But for now I worked with what we had and I LOVE how it turned out!!
Before
I’ve wanted to paint these dark cabinets since the day we moved in here. Also these light fixtures – no bueno.
As you can see, this bathroom was very much neglected!
After
What a difference!! I now feel happy when walking into this space! I painted the walls cloud cover from Benjamin Moore and then used a pencil to create a faux shiplap look. This bathroom was done on a budget so I had to get creative to get the look I wanted!
Sink Area
Matt and I took out the large builder grade mirror in this space. It is VERY easy – literally we unclipped some clips and the mirror slid right out. This was definitely a 2 person job (because the mirror was so big) but only took us 5 minutes to do. If your mirror is glued then you will have some more work ahead of you but luckily ours was not! I opted to go for these deep set rectangular black mirrors. We love having our own mirrors in front of our sinks, makes it feel more private!
I was not a fan of our silver and white lights before – these globe style lights are so much better. Our electrician put them on a dimmer which I highly recommend.
Another item I wanted to change out was our faucets. I like mixing different metals in a room-makes it feel more custom to me and not so “matchy-matchy”. When I saw these vintage brass faucets, I knew they were the winner. We have the same brand of faucet in our kitchen which you can see HERE; as well as the girls’ bathroom I made over last year.
I’m always looking for ways to create extra storage in our home. Our home isn’t huge and with 6 people and 4 pets, storage is always desired. This cute towel rack with a basket holds washcloths and skin care necessities. I love that this frees up space on the counter!
Vanity Area
Maybe this isn’t a normal thing most women would yearn for, but I have ALWAYS desired an area I could sit at and do my skincare and makeup. I never thought I would be able to make it work in this bathroom but come to find out, I can!
This vanity is the perfect size and is so pretty – I love the fluted drawers! You can purchase it HERE. If you follow me on Instagram you may already know I am a makeup lover. Every morning, I look forward to getting ready for the day. Years ago, as a stay at home mom who was somewhat struggling, I made it a priority to get dressed and ready for the day. And I’ve never looked back. This metal cart on wheels houses most of my makeup products; it is very practical for the space and fits nicely under the vanity.
This mirror was collecting dust in my closet – fit the vibes in here perfectly!
This adorable cow print stool is one of my favorite things in this space. Super comfortable, affordable and well made. BUT – the real amazing thing about this stool is the extra storage it provides!!
The seat lifts up and you can put whatever your heart desires in here. I keep all of my skin care tools in here-fits them perfectly.
I can’t begin to tell you how much joy it brings me every morning and night to sit down, get cozy and get un-ready for the night or ready for the day. It is the little things in life. And if it’s important to you- find a way to make it happen. I told myself there wasn’t enough room for the last 6 years but all it took was some re-imagining and re-organizing.
Wallpapered Nook
Ok, I knew I wanted to incorporate some type of wallpaper in the bathroom and this little nook was the perfect spot for it! I am OBSESSED with this little area- makes me happy every time I see it. You can go HERE to see how I made over this medicine cabinet that I thrifted for $15. Go HERE to purchase this wallpaper- I chose the color navy but it is also available in black.
I had some wallpaper left over, so used it on the inside of my cabinets. Looks so cute!
Shower Door Frame & Door Makeover
Just when I thought I was done with the bathroom makeover, I decided to do just one more diy in the space and I am sure glad I did because it turned out AMAZING!!
I am waiting to see how my technique of paint holds up before I share how I made over this glass door. So far, so good- in a few weeks I will dedicate a post to this shower door!
Painted Cabinets
Painting the cabinets was a MUST on my list – I painted them the same color as our kitchen island and hood. This space isn’t the easiest to photograph since there is not a ton of natural light, in the kitchen post you can get a better representation of the color. I had our local hardware store color match it, Silver Mist from BEHR.
I also painted the door and trim around it the same color as the cabinets. We switched out the door knob as well. Our door knob had been broken for the last 5 years; was probably about time we fixed it…
Idea for Towel Rack
I picked up this large accordion style rack at the thrift store for $3 and have been holding on to it for a while, waiting for the perfect place for it. And I found it! We use this to hold our towels – I love how unique it is.
I am so happy with how this space turned out!! Someday I would love to change up the floors, tile and countertop BUT even though that was not in our budget, I still created a beautiful space that is much better than the before. Instead of waiting years and years (who knows how long), for more money to be able to make this more my style, I took what we had and made it an enjoyable space to be in for THE NOW.
Thank you for taking the time to stop by!
xoxo
